Epic. The blue and white lights strung on the wall and along the floor, the red carpet, the big screen; all of this contributed to our SUPER fun activity last night!
It all started last week. We divided into groups and were assigned characters and a plot which were used to make a short film/commercial. Then the groups split up and filmed! Some took longer than others, but all were finished within the week. (Pretty impressive, I think).
We were assigned escorts and told that they could make it as date-like as they wanted. (Might I mention, during this process, both the Elders Quorum and Relief Society thought the others were chicken, hence the assignments). So, Monday night we all got dressed up in our formal attire, some of which probably hadn't seen the sun in months/years, and waited for our escorts to pick us up.
Might I now say, THANK YOU Melissa and company! I was stunned as I walked in and saw all of the
beautiful decorations, heard the fun music, and saw all of the beautiful people! Everyone seemed to be so cheerful when my escort and I walked in on the red carpet to have our picture taken. Dressing up seems to bring out the best in people, I think. The fun most definitely did not end there either!
We had an excellent lesson on balancing our lives-very well timed I thought. Then we watched all of the movies made by the other groups while eating popcorn and drinking sparkling cider. They were all hilarious! Maybe we can post a few... Nominating was hard, but we nominated our favorites and then they received a prize.
The best surprise of all was saved for last. We cleared the floor and danced! I don't know how many wards could have a full blown dance without joining a few other wards. I just LOVE that our ward is so friendly and ready to have a good time. Even the bishopric swept their wives across the floor :) Thanks for the great music DJ Charlie!
That was a party.
