Christmas Party

The FHE committe put on a beautiful Christmas evening, filled with uplifting musical performances, pretty lights, decorations, tastey food, and a good 'ol White Elephant gift exchange. And can we talk about what a good looking ward we have? Everyone looked great!

President Thomas S. Monson declared that true love is a reflection of the Savior’s love. “In December of each year we call it the Christmas spirit. You can hear it. You can see it. You can feel it.”

Merry Christmas!!!

A time to serve

We had a charity auction last night! Even though the turn out at first was a bit disappointing, it was SO great! What a success! The people that offered their services were so kind, and those that offered to pay for them are just as great :) We had people giving everything from horse riding lessons, to a "good time" and a "better time," 4 course meals to a bean dip, music lessons and organ tours, even dates were auctioned off!

All of this was to help a few families in our area.  The money raised ($547) will be donated to help by Christmas gifts for these families in need.  What a great way to start off the Christmas season!

President Monson said:
“There is no better time than now, this very Christmas season, for all of us to rededicate ourselves to the principles taught by Jesus Christ.  Because He came to earth, we have a perfect example to follow… It is His example which, if followed, stirs within us more kindness and love, more respect and concern for others.”

Find ways this Christmas to serve those around you.  I promise that this will be the best Christmas yet if we can all follow our Savior's example and give just a little bit more of ourselves!

(Just a nice video to get you into the Christmas Spirit... sorry it is so blurry!  If you want to see the better one, go the Facebook page)

Ward Temple Night

Great job temple committee!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed going to the temple with members of our ward!  What a great experience to feel Heavenly Father's love for us.  One thing that I learned there on Wednesday: it doesn't matter who you are, where you come from, or what you look like.  When we are in the temple we are all family and that love is so easy to see and to feel.  I can't wait until the goal of 65 is reached!  (We are almost half way there, with about 27 in attendance this week).

Thanks so much ward!!

The party afterward was wonderful too!  Great ice cream choices, funny stories, and a lovely fire. I love you people.

If you missed it this time, don't worry, we can all repent and come next time!! :)  Hope to see you there!

FHE 11/19

Epic.  The blue and white lights strung on the wall and along the floor, the red carpet, the big screen; all of this contributed to our SUPER fun activity last night!

It all started last week. We divided into groups and were assigned characters and a plot which were used to make a short film/commercial.   Then the groups split up and filmed!  Some took longer than others, but all were finished within the week.  (Pretty impressive, I think).

We were assigned escorts and told that they could make it as date-like as they wanted.  (Might I mention, during this process, both the Elders Quorum and Relief Society thought the others were chicken, hence the assignments). So, Monday night we all got dressed up in our formal attire, some of which probably hadn't seen the sun in months/years, and waited for our escorts to pick us up.

Might I now say, THANK YOU Melissa and company!  I was stunned as I walked in and saw all of the beautiful decorations, heard the fun music, and saw all of the beautiful people!  Everyone seemed to be so cheerful when my escort and I walked in on the red carpet to have our picture taken. Dressing up seems to bring out the best in people, I think. The fun most definitely did not end there either!

We had an excellent lesson on balancing our lives-very well timed I thought.  Then we watched all of the movies made by the other groups while eating popcorn and drinking sparkling cider.  They were all hilarious!  Maybe we can post a few... Nominating was hard, but we nominated our favorites and then they received a prize.

The best surprise of all was saved for last.  We cleared the floor and danced!  I don't know how many wards could have a full blown dance without joining a few other wards.  I just LOVE that our ward is so friendly and ready to have a good time.  Even the bishopric swept their wives across the floor :)  Thanks for the great music DJ Charlie!

That was a party.
